Balearic Beat has a new virtual outpost, curated by two gentlemen with a long and melodious association with the genre.
It’s taken the backroom lot a while, but after a lot of their hard work (and a bit of effort from the bearded ones!) we’re finally here!
Down To The Sea And Back is a site about all things Balearic Beat (Balearic House, or the ‘Balearic Sound’ if you must). But, it is also the homing beacon and launchpad for a series of compilations celebrating that genre of music, of which Kelvin Andrews and Balearic Mike are aficionados – they being the aforementioned ‘bearded ones’.
As such, this site is dedicated to them, and the music they love and believe in.
On this site you’ll find the aforementioned compilations, put together by Kelvin and Mike, as well as links to their Cosmic and Balearic DJ Sets, upcoming DJ Dates and exclusive mixes – amongst other things.
We’re hopeful that they will be persuaded to stay away from the forum on DJ History and the other sites that we know they spend all their time looking at it in the middle of the night (not all about odd German porn soundtracks – although one of those words does feature). If they do, they might even write some stuff here about their musical experiences and musings.
In case they don’t, we’re going to and we have taken the precaution of getting them to write sleeve notes already and we’ll post those instead!
So, one way or another, words and pictures will continue to be added – have a browse around and enjoy their singular take on the Balearic Beat.

thanks!!!
cheers
Truly Gorgeous! Lucky for the music scene indeed. Not the easiest of genres commercially, but thank goodness you guys are doing it. Bringing true Balearic into the forefront, the foundation of all things House, may just raise the yardstick of quality and gorgeousness back into mainstream. A chance to really impact and influence.
Get off your nightowl DJ History missions, not to write accolades to yourself, (there will be plenty of others queueing up to do this, believe!), but to get together some moRE.
